Ikebana The First Lesson of 2013

生け初め The First Arranging of 2013

Japanese has many something 初 which means the first action and event of the year.

We had the first Ikabana 生け花lesson of 213.  It was raining hard and the weather didn’t seem to celebrate our class but we really had a great time, enjoying early spring flowers.  Also we had a new member! I am so glad to have a new friend sharing joy of Ikabana.

In Ikebana even we use same floral materials the each arrangement becomes totally different art. Ikebana is all about how an arranger find beauty in flowers and branches and how she or he expresses it. You can find beauty and uniqueness in every bud, blossom, branch, leave and flower.  Also you will find perfect combination of nature in their colors, shapes and lines. I love to watch them carefully and listen to their voices.

Ikebana is the Japanese art of arranging flowers.

Ike 生 means to live, to make alive.  Bana (Hana) 花means flowers.
